Second Annual GIC Funder Briefing

On Monday, July 11th, the Rhode Island Green Infrastructure Coalition held its annual donor briefing at the Rhode Island Foundation. Over fifty representatives from charitable foundations, advocacy organizations, government agencies were in attendance. Attendees got the opportunity to tour several installations on the west side of Providence to see how green infrastructure can be used to capture stormwater, improve communities, and create job opportunities. The GIC also presented a summary of the work performed by the coalition and its members during the past year and laid out its plan for the next two years of work, including:

  1. Mapping and engaging the community
  2. Building green infrastructure into neighborhoods and creating local jobs
  3. Building the constituency to support green infrastructure
  4. Institutionalizing green infrastructure policy solutions at the city and state level
